Research visit from MARDI
24 August – The National Beef Industry Development Strategic Plan (BIF PLAN) 2021–2025 and the National Dairy Industry Development Strategic Plan (DAIRY PLAN) were introduced on 27 July 2022 to advance the nation’s ruminant sector to its highest potential.
The ruminant sector may be developed through a more effective farming system approach, increased production capacity, maintaining optimal production costs, and strengthened management along the value chain, according to Agriculture and Food Industries Minister (MAFI) Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.
According to him, the two plans above might help Malaysia meet its production goals under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which are to produce 20 million litres of fresh milk and 111,000 tonnes of beef over the course of five years.
In order to achieve the target, the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) had made visit to various dairy farm including Eco Yap’s Farm by their centre officials and doctors.
During the visit, MARDI suggested that improving dairy breeds and genetics are essential as well as efficient feed and farm management are worth to invest in order to get great return of investment in the long run for dairy farms. MARDI also suggested Eco cycle farm ideas
